FORGOTTEN RIDERS

Forgotten Riders brings forward the overlooked figures who helped shape the mythology of the American West. Black cowboys, innovators, and performers whose stories were largely written out of the dominant narrative. Drawing from archival imagery, each work layers history with disruption, using collage, paint, and gesture to break apart and rebuild these identities in real time. Figures like Nat Love, Jesse Stahl, Bill Pickett, and Jim Perry emerge not as relics but as enduring presences, reclaimed and recontextualized within a fractured visual language that mirrors the distortion of their legacy. This series acts as both correction and confrontation, a reassertion of presence in a space where absence was deliberately constructed.
