Sun-faded mas-produced print in frame
20 H x 18W x 2 D inches
2026
Original work. Signed and dated. Ships directly from the studio.
Description:
An orange distress flag. Originally designed to send a daytime distress signal. Its black square and circle form an official maritime sign that a vessel or person needs assistance.
For the work, a salvaged orange distress flag is paired with weathered plywood and a railroad spike. I was drawn to the way the materials bring together two different systems of passage, one by water and one by land. What once supported and directed movement now remains as evidence of use and abandonment.
